Ronald "Ron" Kroon (born September 17, 1942 in Amsterdam ; died July 12, 2001 in Huizen ) was a Dutch athlete and photographer . As a swimmer, he took part in the Olympic Games in 1960 and 1964 .

Life

Ron Kroon specialized in freestyle swimming . Between 1960 and 1964 he was the Dutch champion on the 100 m distance and between 1960 and 1968 he held the Dutch record for this distance. He was able to improve the record twelve times, his best time was under 56 seconds. Kroon participated in the 1960 and 1964 Summer Olympics. In the last year he reached eighth place with the tier relay. At the European Swimming Championships in Leipzig in 1962 , he came third in the 100 m crawl competition and also won the bronze medal in the 4 × 100 m individual medal.

He also worked as a photographer for the Algemeen Nederlandsch Fotobureau (ANeFo) from 1965 to 1968 and was also a sports editor for the Algemene Vereniging Radio Omroep television program in the 1970s . Kroon's photographic estate is in the Nationaal Archief , some of the images are freely accessible.
