The Püngelbachtal nature reserve is located in the Monschau area .
description
This nature reserve is now part of the Eifel National Park , but is still legally valid.
The area concerns the upper reaches of the Püngelbach . The spring basin is in a large meadow of pipe grass surrounded by spruce forests . It is kept open by game, so there are large areas of yellow daffodils and small areas of Borstraswiesen . Either forest rush populations or swamp violets - peat moss communities - grow in the spring meadows . On the left are species-rich bearwort - gold oat stocks . Further below are dammed extinguishing water ponds . A pre-pond silts up with hedgehog -cob - flood-swath reeds , in the main ponds reeds and pondweed grow . Below the ponds of maendrierende, natural stream is continuous from broad reed canary grass reeds lined with a chance of ear pastures .
Protection purpose
The habitats for many plants, fungi and animals in NRW that are endangered according to the Red List are to be protected .
The objectives are the conservation and development of the following natural habitats in accordance with Annex I of the Habitats Directive:
- Running waters with underwater vegetation
- Mountain hay meadows
- Grove beech forest
The area is of particular importance for the following plants and animals:
- Magnificent thin fern
- Great mouse ear
- Water bat
- Little whiskered bat
- Brown long-eared
- Yellow daffodil
