The Feuerbach-Laufenbachtal nature reserve is located in the area of the city of Monschau .

description

the Feuerbach is two to three meters wide and is accompanied by a deciduous forest edge. Grazed green areas border the banks. It flows into the Laufenbach, which is then up to five meters wide. Large stone blocks lie in the streambed. Insect larvae and planarians speak for the good water quality . The banks are mostly flat except for the rocky outcrops up to 15 m high. All rocks are covered with moss and lichen. There is a larger pond at the bottom of the valley. The largest pond is about 150 m long and 75 m wide, it serves as a fishing water. In the further course of the valley, between the Rochusmühle and the Blumentaler Mühle, the stream is accompanied by steep valley slopes, mostly covered with spruce. At the bottom of the valley there is a mostly narrow strip of damp and wet grassland. On the western upper slope of the valley there are springy, rush-dominated areas with pasture land with lean grassland and remains of beech hedge. The moisture penetration partly continues into the steep slopes covered with spruce trees and has contributed to the toppling of trees there, which enables the settlement of willow bushes. The Laufenbach flows into the Rur in the middle of Monschau .
