The Bachtäler nature reserve in the Vogelsang military training area is in the Monschau area .
description
The nature reserve is now in the Eifel National Park , but still has legal validity.
The plateau is occupied by extensive grassland. Extensive stocks of broom can be found on the slopes to the west . In the south of the area there is a wooded brook valley running in an east-west direction with a tributary to the Wüstebach. Here, on the slopes that accompany the stream, you can find valuable Bärwurz meadows and arboreal grass lawns , and in the south of the source area there is also a small calluna heather with aristocular grass lawn.
Protection purpose
The habitats are to be protected for many plants, fungi and animals that are endangered according to the Red List .
The objectives are the conservation and development of the following natural habitats in accordance with Annex I of the Habitats Directive:
- Running waters with underwater vegetation
- Mountain hay meadows
- Pipe grass meadows
The area is of particular importance for the following plants and animals:
- Bristle grass lawn
- Red backs
- Slow worm
- Common frog
