Ron Toomer
Ron Toomer (born May 31, 1930 in Pasadena, California ; † September 26, 2011 in Bedford (Texas) ) was an American roller coaster designer who designed more than 90 roller coasters worldwide.
Life
Toomer studied Mechanical Engineering at the University of Nevada and was part of the design team for the Apollo - heat shield .
It was founded in 1965 by Arrow Development set -Gründern Karl Bacon and Ed Morgan, the mine train roller coaster Run-A-Way Mine Train in Six Flags Over Texas mitzukonstruieren. There he designed 15 more mine coasters. After four years of development, he introduced the first modern looping roller coaster with two inversions when he opened Corkscrew at Knott's Berry Farm in 1975 . A year later he introduced the famous teardrop loop on the Corkscrew roller coaster at Cedar Point . In 1999, the world's tallest roller coaster, the Magnum XL-200 , was opened in Cedar Point under Toomer .
After Huss Maschinenfabrik bought Arrow Development in 1981, Toomer became Deputy General Manager and Head of Development. In 1986 a takeover was negotiated and Arrow Dynamics was founded, where Toomer became managing director. Toomer left Arrow Dynamics in 1998.
