Corkscrew in Cedar Point ( Sandusky , Ohio , USA ) is a steel roller coaster of the Custom Looping Coaster model manufactured by Arrow Dynamics , which opened on May 15, 1976. It was the first roller coaster to be equipped with three inversions and the second roller coaster in the modern age with a loop at all. The roller coaster opened just eight days after the first roller coaster opened with a modern looping revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain .

The track is located between the Top Thrill Dragster and Magnum XL-200 roller coasters and the Power Tower . Corkscrew was the first roller coaster to have a pedestrian walkway under the inversions.

journey

After the operator has released the pneumatic station brakes, the train rolls down a small descent and into a 180 ° left curve until it reaches the 30 ° steep, 26 m high chain lift . After the train has reached the highest point, it descends the First Drop on a slope of 45 ° and reaches a top speed of 77 km / h. Then the train drives through a small hill, which ensures airtime for the passengers. The first inversion, the looping, is passed through immediately after the hill. After another right turn, the train reaches the other two inversions - the double corkscrew that is located above the middle path of the park.

Trains

Corkscrew owns three trains with six cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) can be seated in each car. Shoulder straps are used as a restraint system.
