Rougarou in Cedar Point ( Sandusky , Ohio , USA ) is a steel roller coaster of the type Floorless Coaster from the manufacturer Bolliger & Mabillard , which was opened on May 11, 1996 as Mantis of the Stand-Up Coaster type . When it opened, it was the tallest, longest and fastest roller coaster of its type. Mantis was also the world's first roller coaster with an inclined loop .

On September 2, 2014, Cedar Point announced that Mantis would make its final voyage on October 19. On September 18, the park announced that the ropeway would reopen in spring 2015, equipped with new floorless coaster trains under the name “Rougarou”.

journey

On the approximately 1189 m long route, passengers drive through four inversions and reach a top speed of 97 km / h. After the 44 m high lift hill and the 42 m high descent of 52 °, a 36 m high loop follows . The second inversion, the 31 m high dive loop , is followed by a 360 ° helix whose exit leads into the 25 m high inclined loop . Before the last inversion - the corkscrew - the train is slowed down a bit on a block brake before it enters the final brake after a few turns.

Trains

Rougarou owns three trains with eight cars each. Four people (one row of four) can be seated in each carriage. This enables a maximum capacity of 1800 people per hour. The passengers must be at least 1.37 m tall to be allowed to ride. Shoulder straps are used as a restraint system.
