Tha Bat in Kings Iceland ( Mason , Ohio , USA ) was a roller coaster on the model suspended coaster of manufacturer Arrow Dynamics , which opened the 1,981th It was the prototype of the manufacturer's Suspended Coaster .

Due to numerous problems with the railway, it was closed again in 1983 and demolished in 1984. Since the rails were not inclined in the curves, the rails and the supports were heavily used. The braking swords were mounted on the floor of the car, which meant that the wheels were stressed when braking. The shock absorbers were exposed to high forces due to the strong vibrations. There were also hairline cracks in the wheels and carts.

Arrow Dynamics optimized the Suspended Coaster model and in 1984 Six Flags AstroWorld opened a model with XLR-8 that had been in operation for over two decades.

After The Bat was closed in 1983, a new Suspended Coaster was opened on April 9, 1993, which is also called The Bat today . Originally opened as a Top Gun , it was renamed Flight Deck in 2008 , and finally The Bat in 2014 .

Since the individual wagons swing out to the side during travel and thus come very close to objects in the vicinity of the train, a flight with a fighter plane should be simulated. A special feature of The Bat is that it only has one lift hill, in contrast to most of the manufacturer's other suspended coasters, which often have two lift hills. The station recreates an aircraft carrier designed by John DeCuir , designer of the film of the same name, Top Gun . It was the last Suspended Coaster ever made. The Bat is Kings Island's second attempt to build a Suspended Coaster after problems with the first The Bat , which opened in 1981 and closed again in 1983 .

Trains

The Bat owns two Arrow trains with seven cars each. Four people (two rows of two people) can be seated in each car. The passengers must be at least 1.22 m tall to be allowed to ride.
