Son of Beast in Kings Island ( Mason , Ohio , USA ) was a wooden roller coaster that opened on May 26, 2000 in what was then Paramount's Kings Island .

The track, constructed by the engineering office Stengel GmbH and the Roller Coaster Corporation of America , was the only wooden roller coaster in the world that was equipped with a loop , which itself was made of steel. This was around 36 m high.

In 2006, problems with driving increased and she drove her last laps on July 9, 2006. Between the 2006 and 2007 seasons, some changes were made to the track, including the removal of the looping. With its 66 m height, it was now the highest pure wooden rollercoaster in the world and thus exceeded Colossos in Heide-Park by 14 m. By removing the loop, lighter trains could now be used.

After the 2009 season, the railway was stopped. On July 27, 2012, the park announced that it would completely dismantle the runway. The demolition took place in the same year. On the former site of Son of Beast was inverted coaster " Banshee " built.

Trains

The original Son of Beast trains were from Premier Rides . Each train was equipped with six cars with space for six people each (three rows of two people). Between the 2005 and 2006 seasons, each train was shortened to five cars. Since 2007 Son of Beast has had two trains with six cars each, which were made by the manufacturer Gerstlauer Amusement Rides . As in the old Premier Rides trains, each car could seat six people (three rows of two people).
