Career

Allison played during his junior years between 1991 and 1994 with the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League . The Washington Capitals selected him in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft as 17th in the first round. After he had finished the following season in London, he was brought to the Capitals for two more games. He then played the playoffs of the American Hockey League for the farm team of the caps , the Portland Pirates . In 1994 and 1995 he played for Canada at the Junior World Championships and won gold for his home country on both occasions.

Until the 1996/97 season , the talented hopefuls moved between Washington and Portland, but did not make the breakthrough in the NHL. Together with the talents Anson Carter and Jim Carey as well as a draft law he moved to the Boston Bruins . In return, the experienced Adam Oates , Bill Ranford and Rick Tocchet came to Washington.

He had only made 29 points with the Capitals in five seasons, but now he started with the Bruins in the 1997/98 season and landed ninth on the scorer list with 83 points. In the following season he was able to confirm his increase in performance and reached the NHL playoffs for the first time. After a good start to the 1999/2000 season , a thumb injury threw him back and he only played 37 games. He returned for the next season and set a new personal record with 95 points.

Together with Mikko Eloranta he was given to the Los Angeles Kings for the 2001/02 season for Jozef Stümpel and Glen Murray . After a good first year, his second season in Los Angeles was overshadowed by a knee and hip injury. He was only able to appear for the Kings 26 times and achieved 28 points. The following season he missed due to injury and the 2004/05 season fell victim to the lockout .

For the 2005/06 season he moved to the Toronto Maple Leafs . Here he was again one of the best scorers. Nevertheless, his contract with the Leafs was not renewed, and since he could not agree with any other team, he sat the following season again completely.
