Ronaldo Mota Sardenberg (born October 8, 1940 in Itu , São Paulo ) is a former Brazilian diplomat and politician .

Life

Ronaldo Mota Sardenberg is the son of Ruth S. da Mota Sardenberg and Irto Sardenberg. In 1963 he obtained a Bachelor of Laws from the Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro and entered the foreign service in 1964.

From 1967 to 1970 he was employed as second-class delegation secretary in Washington, DC and then until 1973 at the UN headquarters .

From 1982, Sardenberg was in Moscow , first as chargé worked from 1985 to 1989 as ambassador. This was followed by his transfer as ambassador to Madrid, before he represented the Brazilian government at the UN headquarters from 1990 to 1994 and from 2003 to 2007 . In the meantime, he sat from 1993 to 1994 in the seat of non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council , which he chaired in October 1993.

From 1995 to 1998 Sardenberg was appointed State Secretary for Strategic Affairs and in 1999 appointed Minister for Nuclear Technology and the Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas Espaciais . From July 21, 1999 to December 31, 2002, he was a member of the government of Fernando Henrique Cardoso as Minister of Science and Research, and as such approved the use of the Centro de Lançamento de Alcântara for the George W. Bush cabinet . From 2007 to 2011, he then headed the Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações , the regulatory authority for Brazilian telecommunications .
