Rookie Records is a label with an affiliated music publisher with a focus on punk rock, post-punk and independent. The label was founded in 1996 and is based in Hamburg.

Label history

Rookie Records came about because nobody wanted to release the album by Attention! Rookies, Jürgen Schattner's band at the time. So he started his own label. What began as a stopgap quickly became an insider tip among friends and acquaintances. This was followed by publications including the Walter Elf follow-up band Kick Joneses , Spermbirds , Turbostaat in cooperation with Schiffen, Terrorgruppe , The Jones and Stokoe (feat. Dickie Hammond / Leatherface). From 1999 to 2005, Schattner ran the label as a side project of his full-time job at the Mailorder Flight13 Records in Freiburg. In cooperation with Boss Tuneage, UK, Rookie Records brought out reissues of well-known hardcore and punk bands such as Heresy , Ripcord , Dan and Sofahead in Germany.

In 2008 Jürgen expanded his activities in the direction of music publishing and, together with Gerhard Zimmermann, Mute Music Promotion (mmp), founded Edition Rookie Publishing, which has since taken care of the marketing of their music for the label bands. In the meantime, bands such as the Aeronauten , Pascow , Love A , Bambix , Loaded, The Stanfields and Puta Madre Brothers also belong to the label. Jürgen Schattner ran Rookie Records in Cologne from 2006 to summer 2015, and has lived in Hamburg since then, where he runs labels, publishers and promotions.
