Walter Elf is a German punk band from Kaiserslautern, founded in 1983 . The band name refers to the nickname of 1. FC Kaiserslautern in the 1950s based on Fritz Walter and the so-called "Walter Elf" . Most of the members are now active in the band Kick Joneses .

history

The band, along with the Spermbirds , with whom they shared most of the band members, was one of the flagships of the Kaiserslautern punk scene.

After their farewell concert on December 17, 1991 in the Kammgarn cultural center in Kaiserslautern , the Walter Elf played “one-time” reunion concerts at the same venue on December 20, 2002 and December 30, 2005 , as well as on December 27 and 28 2008 both of which were sold out. They also performed on July 21, 2007 as part of the Back-To-Future Festival on the Pouch peninsula near Bitterfeld .

In 2010 the band released their first album since 1991 on July 30th. The album called "Men in Red" pays homage to 1. FC Kaiserslautern . This was also followed by an appearance at the Kuseler Festival "Don't feel like Nazis" . When asked whether further appearances will follow in the future, Schattner answered with: “We'll let it all happen. A tour or a new album are certainly not planned. After all, there is also 'Kick Joneses'. ”In fact, the Walter Elf gave two more concerts in the cultural center on December 29th and 30th, 2012 (at the first appearance together with their“ sister band ”, the Spermbirds) on the occasion of their 30th anniversary Worsted in her hometown. At the same place, the band performed again on December 28, 2014 and December 28, 2016. On December 29, 2016, there was also an appearance in the Alte Hackerei in Karlsruhe .
