Rosamond is a city in Kern County , California , United States . It is located about 20 miles north of Palmdale in the Antelope Valley , the westernmost part of the Mojave Desert . The 2000 census found a population of 14,349.

The Solar Star solar park is located close to the village and when it was commissioned in June 2015, it was the most powerful photovoltaic open-space system in the world with an output of 579  MW .
