Rosario Borelli (born December 15, 1927 in Cerignola , † January 1, 2001 in Rome ) was an Italian actor .

Life

At the end of the 1940s and at the beginning of the following decade, Borelli was one of the most popular protagonists in photoromanzi , in which the good-looking, physically strong and honest-faced actor was particularly popular with female readers. A film adaptation of such a photo story, which appeared in “Tipo”, Vendetta di zingara , brought Borelli in 1950 alongside his colleague Sergio Raimondi also the first film role. For the cinema he repeated his portrayal of the youthful hero again and again until 1962, which he also played in the Fumetti. He soon changed sides at these and was now responsible as the director of the photo novels. Only rarely did directors like Eduardo De Filippo or Luchino Visconti give him the opportunity to display his acting skills more broadly. After a ten-year hiatus, from 1972 Borelli appeared in numerous genre films in supporting roles as a sleazy crook, cheat or corrupt politician. The actor, also known as Richard Melvill , retired into private life in 1978.

1959 appeared under the name Rosario Borelli & The Disc Jockeys a single.
