Rosebud is a city with a status of " City " in Falls County in the state of Texas in the United States with 1408 inhabitants (2012).

geography

The city is about 35 kilometers east of Temple and 50 kilometers southeast of Waco . The US Highway 77 runs through the western districts of Rosebud.

history

Rosebuds (rosebuds)

A post office was established in 1884 on the site of today's Rosebud. The first inhabitants were mostly Mormons . However, the settlement was destroyed by fire in 1887. After the reconstruction of the new postmaster wanted the place in honor of the Mullins family by their beautiful rose varieties had made a name now Mullins call. Since Mullin already existed in Texas , the plan was abandoned to avoid confusion. In order to still appreciate the typical rose gardens, the place was then called Rosebud (rose bud). The official charter was issued on November 7, 1905. The main livelihood of the inhabitants was agriculture. Cotton and grain were grown on the fertile soil , and a cotton mill was also operated. After the global economic crisis , the population fell and wheat was still grown to a small extent .

Today Rosebud is a quiet residential area with still very beautiful rose gardens. The inhabitants are mostly employed in the surrounding larger cities.

In 2012 a population of 1408 people was determined, which corresponds to a decrease of 5.7% compared to 2000. The average age at this point in time was 42.1 years, well above the value in Texas, which was 30.8 years. 11.5% of today's residents can be traced back to immigrants from Germany.
