Roseburg is a city in the southwest of the US state Oregon . It is located in one of the numerous valleys around the Umpqua River in Douglas County . In 2010 the city had 21,181 inhabitants. The economy and population development as well as the geographical conditions are very similar to the smaller neighboring town of Sutherlin . Bobby Henderson , the inventor and prophet of the flying spaghetti monster, comes from Roseburg .
On October 1, 2015, there was a rampage at Umpqua Community College near Roseburg , in which ten people were shot and seven injured.
geography
Roseburg is not far from the point where the North and South Umpqua Rivers join to form the Umpqua River , 161 m above sea level. The city has an area of 25.93 km², of which 0.49 km² consists of bodies of water.
The Oregon Route 99 is the Hauptostwestverbindung by Rosenburg. Oregon Route 138 also leads east to its end point on US Highway 97 east of Diamond Lake and Crater Lake . In a northwesterly direction, OR-138 connects Roseburg with Elkton .
Interstate 5 runs to the west of the city, on the opposite side of the South Umpqua River from the center . A railway line of the Central Oregon and Pacific Railroad also runs through the city, although it is only used to transport goods. The Umpqua National Forest is close to the city.

The National Park Service lists 19 structures and sites for Roseburg in the National Register of Historic Places (as of January 11, 2019), including the Creed Floed House .

There is a Greyhound bus station . Two public airports are located in Roseburg and the surrounding area, Marion E. Carl Memorial Field in the north of the city and George Felt Airport in the west. Local public transport is guaranteed by U-Trans (formerly: Umpqua Transit). This bus company serves Roseburg and the surrounding towns.
