Rosemary Yiameos

Rosemary Charlotte Yiameos (born December 15, 1974 in Patmos , Greece ) is an American musician of Greek descent. Since 2002 she has been the solo oboist with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra .

Rosemary Yiameos was born on the Greek island of Patmos, but grew up with her mother in New York after her parents separated . After discovering her love for the oboe as a child, she entered the Juilliard School at the age of 11 . At the Eastman School of Music in Rochester (New York) she graduated with in 1996 Bachelor of Music and at the Shepherd School of Music of Rice University in Houston ( Texas ) in 1999, the Master of Music .
As part of a one-year postgraduate course , she was then able to complete her training in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau with Heinz Holliger as a Fulbright scholarship holder and graduated in 2000 with a soloist diploma with distinction.

In 2001 she was runner-up at the International Fernand Gillet-Hugo Fox Competition in Morgantown, Virginia, after having received an “Honorable Mention” there two years earlier. Rosemary Yiameos has been solo oboist with the St. Gallen Symphony Orchestra since 2002 . She also gives concerts and performs with chamber music ensembles.

Concert partner and festivals

During her studies in the United States, Yiameos gave concerts with numerous well-known orchestras, including the Houston Symphony Orchestra and the New World Symphony Orchestra . During her studies in Germany, she was a member of the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Orchestra Academy of the Bamberg Symphony .

She has performed at major international music festivals in Tanglewood , Sarasota and Aspen, as well as the Norfolk Chamber Music Festival and the National Repertory Orchestra . For several summers she performed as solo oboist at the music festival in Crested Butte ( Colorado ).
