Roshan Seth

Roshan Seth (born August 17, 1942 in New Delhi , India ) is a British-Indian film and theater actor .

Life

Seth, a graduate of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art , first attracted attention in the theater when he toured the United States in A Midsummer Night's Dream in 1972 . Already in front of the camera in television series since 1964, Seth had his first major supporting role in a feature film in 18 hours to eternity ( Juggernaut ) in 1974 as ship waiter Azad alongside Richard Harris and Anthony Hopkins . Seth achieved his international breakthrough in 1982 with his role as Jawaharlal Nehru in Gandhi , for which he received a BAFTA nomination. Two years later, in 1984, he took on the role of Chattar Lal in Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, and starred in Journey to India that same year, directed by David Lean .

Roshan Seth embodied mostly Indian characters, including 2001 in Monsoon Wedding . He also took on a supporting role in Not Without My Daughter from 1991.

In parallel to his work as an actor, Seth has made a name for himself in India as a freelance journalist and editor .
