The Red Tower ( 2702  m above sea level ) is a mountain in the Lienz Dolomites and is located in the municipality of Tristach in East Tyrol . Neighboring mountains are the Laserzwand in the west and the Laserzkopf in the east . The summit of the Red Tower bears a cross with a summit book.

The ascent to the Red Tower is usually via the Karlsbader Hut . Just before the summit of the Laserzwand, an earthy path branches off to the Schmittsattel. The path continues over flat rock and then into the Schmitt chimney. The ascent of the Red Tower is often combined with the ascent of the Laserzwand over the iron edge. In this case, you can approach via the Schöttner peak of the Laserzwand. The Schmitt chimney is a sloping right upward slit on the western edge of the Red Tower. A section around twenty meters high has difficulty level III . After reaching the Schrofenrinne, which extends to the south saddle of the Red Tower, a chimney of difficulty level II leads to the summit roof.

Another way to visit the Red Tower is to climb to the southwest. The entrance to the south-west climb is after the Schmittsattel to the right of the Schmitt chimney under a prominent crack. The climbing route itself has grade III + as the greatest difficulty.
