Red House

description

Architectural drawing, 1895
In front: The Red House, behind it Albert Kuntze's villa . Hand-colored postcard, 1903.

The under monument protection standing Villa (already included in the circular monument list in 1979) arises from the valley as a two-storey house is; the lower floor is designed as a high basement due to the hillside location . This consists of quarry stone masonry, while the upper floor was made of facing masonry, which gave the house its name. The facades are richly decorated with sandstone structures.

The building shows an "irregular, picturesque elevation" that shows two main facades, one facing south towards the street and one facing east. Between these two main views is a three-storey corner tower, which is crowned by a Welschen dome . The decorative view to the south is supplemented on the left side of the building by a side risalit with a volute gable. In the eastern side view, the second decorative facade, in front of which a steep path originally led to the north into the mountains, there is also a side elevation with a large roof house offset to the north. In the western, i.e. left, side view is the entrance porch, to which a long flight of stairs leads up. The porch is designed as an arbor . The house entrance leads to the upper floor, the exit to the arbor is from the attic.

The windows framed by sandstone show different roofs. The formerly slate-covered, irregularly shaped roof consists of a gable and platform roof.

history

The building application from December 1895 was submitted by Privatus Dr. jur. Carl Friedrich Otto Teichmann with the help of a design by the Dresden architect Löser. The building permit was granted in January 1896. The construction was carried out by the building company of the Große Brothers , whose notification of completion dates back to January 1897.

According to the address book from 1901, at the time the second house name mentioned here was used, the house was owned by Friedrich Wilhelm Rische from Emmerichswalde , while Teichmann also lived there.
