Rothnaußlitz ( Upper Sorbian Čerwjene Noslicy ) is a village in the southwest of the East Saxon district of Bautzen . It belongs to Upper Lusatia and has belonged to the Demitz-Thumitz community since 1994 . Previously it was an independent municipality with the districts Cannewitz, Karlsdorf (formerly Carlsdorf) and Pottschapplitz .
geography
The main part of Rothnaußlitz is located south of the state road 111 (formerly B6 ) near the manor. The remaining buildings are along the S111 and on the road to Cannewitz. The place lies between the Silberbach and the Schwarzwasser . The Silberbach grazes the local border north to Cannewitz and flows towards Spittwitz. The black water flows directly through the southern part of the village past the manor, also in the direction of Spittwitz, where it absorbs the Silberbach.
history
The place was first mentioned in 1352 as the manor Nussedlicz , later also as Nusedelitz . The name is a Sorbian-German hybrid with the meaning "New Settlement" (modern Sorbian: Nowe sydlišćo ). To distinguish it from other places with the name "Naußlitz", the prefix "Roth-" appears in the 17th century, while the other places are now referred to as "Schwarz-" and "Weißnaußlitz". The manor remained in the village and exercised the manorial rule.
Rothnaußlitz was a Sorbian village until well into the 20th century. The scientist Arnošt Muka counted 221 inhabitants in the village in 1884/85, of whom 197 were Sorbs . The language change to German took place mainly in the first half of the 20th century. In 1956, Ernst Tschernik determined that the Sorbian-speaking population was only 7.1%.
