The Rotte is a river in France that runs in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region . It rises on the eastern outskirts of Morhange , drains generally in a westerly direction and flows after 23 kilometers near Saint-Epvre , but in the municipality of Vatimont , as a right tributary into the Nied Française (German: French Nied ). In its upper course, near Harprich , it takes up the small brook Betz from the left , which drains the Étang de Mutche , where a leisure center has been built. The Paris-Strasbourg railway line ( LGV Est européenne ) runs in the middle and lower section of the valley .
