The RN 6 in Ambondromifehy

The Route nationale 6 (RN 6) is a 706 km long, continuously paved national road in Madagascar . It branches off from Route nationale 4 in Ambondromamy and leads via Antsohihy , Ambanja and Ambilobe to Antsiranana on the northern tip of Madagascar.

The southern part between Ambondromamy and Antsohihy was asphalted in the 1970s, but the asphalt surface was completely destroyed by the end of the 1990s due to a lack of repairs. This section was renewed from 2004 to 2007 with development aid from the European Union . The section between Antsohihy and Ambanja (185 km) was unpaved until 2005 and almost impassable in the rainy season. The expansion took place from 2005 to 2006. The northern section from Ambanja to Antsiranana was last renewed in the early 1990s and is currently in very poor condition. A repair is planned.
