This list shows the national roads in Madagascar . There is one type of road, namely the trunk roads beginning with N or RN. Non-contiguous sections of a national road are distinguished with letters (a, b, ...), alternative routes are given the ending -bis. The Ministry of Public Works ( Ministere des Travaux Publics ) classifies the roads into three groups: routes nationales primaires (P), routes nationales secondaire (S) and routes nationales temporaire (T); the latter are mostly unsurfaced or in poor condition due to lack of maintenance and therefore only passable in the dry season.
