Sakaraha is a community ( commune ) in the Atsimo-Andrefana region in southern Madagascar . In 2010 it had about 30,000 inhabitants and is the center of a district of the same name .

Sakaraha is located 340 meters above sea level on a small tributary of the Fiherenana in the area populated by the Bara people. It has grown rapidly in recent years due to the exploitation of sapphire deposits and the discovery of oil and natural gas in its vicinity. Sakaraha is located on the national road 7 that connects the capital Antananarivo with Toliara .
