Personal
Paul Jubb was born in York, the son of a Kenyan woman and an Englishman, and was orphaned at the age of four - his father, a soldier, committed suicide and his mother died a little later. He was raised by his grandmother Valerie. He also played tennis for the first time when he was four years old.
He was discovered as a child near Hull in Pelican Park by tennis coach Jonny Carmichael, who trained him at the Nuffield Health Tennis Academy in his teenage years .
