Roy Etzel (actually Hans Joachim Etzel ; born March 6, 1925 in Breslau ; † May 14, 2015 in Munich ) was a German trumpeter , composer, lyricist and band leader.
Life
Etzel received his musical training at the Army Music School in Frankfurt am Main . After the Second World War he played as a trumpeter in various big bands , for example with Kurt Edelhagen from 1947 to 1952 , with Max Greger from 1957 to 1962 and with Hugo Strasser from 1962 to 1966 . Then he went into business for himself. His own band was the Roy Etzel sound orchestra . He had an appearance as a trumpeter in the comedy Come with the Blue Adria (1966) and played the song Golden Midnight Sun and appeared frequently on television, for example on New Year's Eve 1963 in the cabaret show Schimpf vor 12 of the Munich laughing and shooting society .
In 2004 he published his autobiography entitled This is my life . Etzel died on May 14, 2015, a little more than two months after his 90th birthday, in the Neuaubing district of Munich .
