Reservoirs flowed through Rozkoš reservoir

The Rozkoš (German Roskoschbach ), also Rozkošský potok , on the upper reaches of the Šonovský potok called, is a right tributary of the Metuje in the Czech Republic .

course

The Rozkoš or Šonovský potok rises east of Vrchoviny on the Novoměstská tabule ( New Town Table ). The stream initially flows west through Vrchoviny. At the Za Sezkami (308 m nm) hill , the Rozkoš turns sharply north and flows through the village of Šonov u Nového Města nad Metují , where it again heads west. After 5.5 km the brook flows into the Rozkoš reservoir in Domkov Bay .

The entire middle course of the stream, including the village of Domkov , has been flooded by the reservoir since the 1970s. Before that, the Šonovský potok flowed westward at Domkov into a swampy lowland, in which the strongly meandering brook merged with the Rovenský potok to the Rozkoš, then took a southerly direction and broke through the sandstone plateau surrounding the depression near Lhota. In earlier times the depression on the Končiny hill, where the main dam of the reservoir is located today, was dammed into a large pond by a dam.

The Rozkoš lower reaches has a length of 3.7 km. It leads to the Končiny from the dam of the reservoir with a south-westerly direction between Velká Jesenice and Městec through a flat Kerb valley. Southeast of Veselice, the Rozkoš joins the Metuje after 14.3 kilometers at the hamlet of Nouzín .

Until the construction of the reservoir, the Rozkoš was an arid brook because of its small catchment area, which was limited to the plateau between the valleys of the Úpa and Metuje. Since then, the Úpský přivaděč has supplied a larger amount of water from the Úpa , which clearly exceeds the inflow from the Šonovský potok .
