Rubén Olivera , full name Rubén Ariel Olivera da Rosa (born May 4, 1983 in Montevideo ), is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

The 1.80 m tall and 78 kg heavy midfielder Olivera began his career at the Uruguayan club Danubio FC in Montevideo. From there moved to Juventus Turin at the end of the 2001/02 season . In Turin he was initially unable to assert himself as a central midfielder and was therefore loaned out to Atlético Madrid . Also at Madrid in the Primer Division he collected rare and mostly short appearances and so he returned to Juventus during the winter break of the 2003/04 season. Since he could not prevail again, offered him in the 2004/05 season newly signed coach Fabio Capello on the position of right midfielder, where he presented himself in the following season with good performances and also played regularly. Successes with Juventus Turin were a second place in the Champions League 2003 , as well as two national championship titles (2003, 2005).

In the 2005/06 season he was initially plagued by injury, but was no longer able to prevail even after recovery (also due to restructuring within the team). This season he only played a few minutes in the Coppa Italia and was loaned to Sampdoria Genoa in the summer of 2006 .

After he left Sampdoria his path led through various stations. In 2007/08 he was back for a game at Juventus Turin. He then played eleven games for Peñarol , in which he scored six goals. In the 2008/09 season he played for CFC Genoa (20 games, four goals). This was followed by 15 goalless games for his former employer Peñarol in 2009/10. He then worked for US Lecce until the end of January 2012 . He then joined AC Florence . There he made his debut on February 17, 2012 in the game against SSC Napoli . As a result, he played a total of nine Serie A games in the rest of the season. In the first half of the 2012/13 season he only played four times in the league. On January 14th 2013 it was announced that Olivera will be loaned for six months by Fiorentina to his former employer CFC Genoa. For the Genoese he only played five games (no goal). In the 2013/14 season he was back in the ranks of Fiorentina. There he only came on November 2, 2013 for another use in Serie A , in which, however, he was only substituted in the 90th minute of the game.

On January 30, 2014, he moved to the second division Brescia Calcio , where he signed a contract until June 30, 2015. For Brescia he made his league debut on February 1, 2014 against AS Bari . At the end of the season he had 16 appearances (no goal) in Serie B at his new club. In the 2014/15 season he played 16 league games (no goal) in the second-highest Italian division until his last appearance on December 28, 2014. On January 27, 2015, his immediate move to the second division US Latina was announced, with whom he signed a contract until mid-2016. There he made his debut on January 31, 2015 in a 3-2 home win against Livorno, to which he contributed one goal. For this employer, he played 37 league games across the seasons and scored six goals. However, since May 2016 he has not played any competitive matches. On December 31, 2016, the Ecuadorian capital club LDU Quito announced Olivera's commitment.

National team

Olivera was part of the squad of the Uruguayan U-17 team at the U-17 World Cup in New Zealand in 1999 . There he played all four games with Uruguayan participation and scored a goal in the 3-2 quarter-final defeat against the Ghanaian national team.

Olivera was a member of the 2001 squad of the Uruguayan U-20 team , which took part in the 2001 U-20 South American Championship in Ecuador . There he was used at least in the 1-0 defeat in the group game against Colombia. He was also a member of the Uruguayan team at the U-20 South American Championship in 2003 in Uruguay. In any case, he was used in the 4-1 victory over Peru.

In Uruguay's U-23 team - the Olympic selection - he completed two international games under coach Juan Ramón Carrasco , when he lost in the 3-0 game against Chile's selection on January 7, 2004 and in the 1-1 draw on January 13 2004 against Venezuela in the pre-Olympic South American U-23 qualifier was used. In the first game he received a red card. In the second encounter, he scored the only Uruguayan goal.

In the Uruguayan senior team he made his debut at the Copa America 2001 on July 22, 2001 against Costa Rica . Until his last appearance for Celeste on June 7, 2005, Olivera completed 18 games for Uruguay. He did not score a hit.
