Rubidiumozonid is a chemical compound of rubidium from the group of ozonides .
Extraction and presentation
Rubidium ozonide can be extracted from the product mixture of the reaction of ozone with rubidium hydroxide in liquid ammonia .
It can also be obtained from the reaction of rubidium hyperoxide and ozonated oxygen .
properties
Rubidium ozonide is a dark red solid that decomposes at room temperature. It has a monoclinic crystal structure with the space group P 2 1 / c (space group no.14 ) (a = 645.2, b = 602.2, c = 876.3 pm, β = 122.34 °, −20 ° C). With regard to the pack of cations and anions there is a close relation to the cesium chloride structure. At low temperatures there is also another form (α-RbO 3 , space group P 2 1 (space group no. 4) , a = 436.3, b = 595.3, c = 548.7 pm, β = 99.680 ° ). When heated, the compound decomposes into rubidium hyperoxide.
