Alexander Y. Rudensky (born August 21, 1956 in the Soviet Union ) is a Russian - American immunologist at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City .

Live and act

Rudensky acquired at the 2nd Moscow State Medical Institute "NI Pogorow" (now Russian State Medical University ) in Moscow a Master in Biochemistry and 1986 on Gabrischewski Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology (also in Moscow) a Ph.D. in immunology . From 1990 to 1992 he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Charles A. Janeway, Jr. at Yale University . In 1992 Rudensky received a professorship in immunology at the University of Washington in Seattle . Since 2008 he has been at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City .

Today (as of 2015) Rudensky is head of the department for immunology at the Ludwig Center for Cancer Immunotherapy , combined with a joint professorship at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center , Rockefeller University and Cornell University . He is also professor at the Sloan Kettering Graduate School and the Weill Graduate School of Medical Sciences, Cornell University . Rudensky has been researching for the Howard Hughes Medical Institute since 1993 .

Rudensky was able to contribute significantly to the elucidation of the function of the regulatory T cells and the transcription factor FOXP3 .

Thomson Reuters has been one of the favorites for a Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine since 2015 .
