Rudi Brehm

Rudi Brehm (born May 12, 1924 in Harras (Eisfeld) ( Thuringia ), † December 21, 1997 in Aurich ) was a German trade union official .

Rudi Brehm grew up in Upper Franconia . As a war volunteer he came to Aurich in 1941, where he completed a course at the Naval Intelligence School. During the Second World War he was used in the German navy and drove missions on board submarines and destroyers . He was seriously wounded while on duty in Italy . After being released from captivity , Rudi Brehm returned to Aurich.

From April 1947 he was in the service of the Aurich district government. In 1948 he joined the German Employees' Union (DAG) and became a staff council representative . From 1950 Rudi Brehm worked in the water and shipping administration . In 1956 he was elected chairman of the agency's staff council. From 1959 he was also a member of the main staff council at the Federal Ministry of Transport in what was then the federal capital of Bonn. In 1976 he became chairman of the general staff council of the Waterways and Shipping Directorate Northwest .

Rudi Brehm helped set up the Aurich branch of the DAG and was chairman of the DAG district of Ostfriesland / Wilhelmshaven . He was a member and most recently deputy chairman of the DAG trade union council, on whose board he was elected in 1970. As chairman of the federal professional group for the public service in the DAG he participated in the collective bargaining for the public service .

He worked on a voluntary basis in other functions, such as a member of the administrative board of the Federal and State Pension Fund (VBL) and a judge at the labor court and the social court . For the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) he sat on the city council of Aurich from 1968 to 1970; he was a member of the board of directors of the Kreissparkasse Aurich and in committees of the East Frisian landscape . At the suggestion of the DAG, Rudi Brehm became a deputy member of the board of directors in the self-administration of the Federal Insurance Agency for salaried employees in 1986 and was a full member of the board's personnel committee there .

Rudi Brehm was married and had one son.
