Rudi Horstmann

Rudi Horstmann (born July 30, 1922 in Bottrop ; † February 2, 2004 in Saarbrücken ) was a German opera singer , operetta buffo (tenor), comedian and actor .

Life

At the beginning of his professional career there was a commercial apprenticeship in his parents' painting business. Very early on he was drawn to the stage and the art of singing. The consequence was studying at the Folkwang School in Essen . The courses were singing, acting and directing. He passed his state examination at the Musikhochschule in Cologne .

This was followed by stage engagements at various theaters such as Wuppertal, Essen, Hanau and Trier. He undertook numerous tours with the Rösler Opera Theater (Munich) to Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Since 1957 his longest engagement began at the Stadttheater Saarbrücken , where he was artistically active until his death.

Horstmann has mastered 135 games and has completed more than 4000 performances in his artistic life. Even after he retired, he held annual engagements at the Saarland State Theater. He took over u. a. Roles in the Rocky Horror Show ( Richard O'Brien ), Cyrano de Bergerac ( Edmond Rostand ), Der Bettelstudent ( Karl Millöcker ), Wiener Blut ( Johann Strauss (son) ) and Paradise of Pain ( Florian K. Shantin ). But he was also successful in Arturo Ui ( Bertolt Brecht ) or The Bartered Bride ( Bedřich Smetana ). His last appearance on December 31, 2003 in Les Misérables ( Claude-Michel Schönberg ) was shortly before his unexpected death .
