Rudolf Bednar
Rudolf Bednar (born May 20, 1920 in Vienna ; † June 24, 2003 ) was an Austrian local politician.
Life
Rudolf Bednar learned the trade of druggist . He had been associated with social democracy since his youth . During the time of Austrofascism he was a member of the then illegal Rote Falken . During the Second World War he was taken prisoner of war. After his return he became involved in the Margareten district organization of the Socialist Party , as the SPÖ was then called. After moving to the 2nd district of Vienna, Leopoldstadt , he worked there from 1963 to 1976, under district chairman Robert Uhlir , then under Edgar Schranz , as secretary of the district organization of the SPÖ.
From 1961 to 1977 Bednar was a member of the state parliament and municipal council . From January 17, 1977 to June 5, 1984 he was district chairman of the 2nd district of Vienna. Bednar retired in 1984.
Bednar died at the age of 84. His ashes were buried in the cemetery of the Simmering fire hall .

- In the new Nordbahnviertel , the large Rudolf Bednar Park , which opened in 2008, was named after him.
