Rudolf Christ (singer)
Rudolf Christ (born March 20, 1916 in Vienna ; † April 20, 1982 ibid) was an Austrian opera singer ( tenor ).
Life
Christ began his career in 1939 as a choir player at the Vienna Volksoper , then studied for three years with Adolf Vogel in Vienna. In 1941 he made his debut as a soloist at the Landestheater Innsbruck and worked from 1946–49 at the Stadttheater Zürich as a lyric tenor and operetta singer . In 1949 he returned to the Vienna Volksoper, where he remained a member of the ensemble until his retirement in 1976. In addition, Christ was engaged at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein since 1956 , gave numerous guest performances at the Vienna State Opera and on the major stages in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Italy and Switzerland. Since 1955 he has appeared several times at the Salzburg Festival , including as Jaquino in Fidelio 1958.
His interpretations of the hits by Robert Stolz are also known. In the Prater the trees and Salome are in bloom again .
His grave is in the Grinzinger Friedhof in Vienna (group 1A, row 1, number 2).
