Rudolf Etter
Rudolf Etter (born March 19, 1914 in Meikirch ; † March 2, 1982 in Aarwangen ; resident in Meikirch) was a Swiss politician (first farmers, trade and citizens' party (BGB), then Swiss People's Party (SVP)).
Life
Etter attended primary school in Meikirch and then the commercial school in Neuchâtel . After working as an apprentice from 1930 to 1939 , he worked for the cider factory in Aarwangen. After attending various specialist courses at the Federal Research Institute in Wädenswil , he became the owner and manager of the Aarwangen cider factory.
From 1944 to 1955 Etter was a councilor or mayor in Aarwangen. He also sat on the Bern Grand Council from 1946 to 1956 before he was elected to the National Council, to which he belonged until 1979 and which he chaired in 1976 . From 1958 to 1963 he was president of the BGB section in Bern and from 1972 to 1974 head of the SVP parliamentary group . As a colonel , he was a war commissioner on the army staff.
Etter was president of the Bernese and from 1973 to 1982 of the Swiss trade association . He was also a member of the Bank Council of the Swiss National Bank .
