Rudolf Fuchs (born January 19, 1861 in Freiheitau , Austrian Silesia ; died September 18, 1945 in Meiningen , Germany ) was an Austrian theater actor .

Life

Fuchs, the son of a factory owner, decided to take up the acting profession after serving as a one-year volunteer in Dresden . He was trained at the Vienna Conservatory by Bernhard Baumeister and Emil Bürde .

He had his first engagement in 1882 at the Meininger Hoftheater , where he took part in the Meiningen guest performances under "Theater Duke" Georg II . He then went to the Strasbourg City Theater in 1885 , to Weimar in 1886 , to the Munich Court Theater in 1887 and to the Kassel Court Theater in 1893 . In 1898 he returned to Meiningen , where Fuchs mostly appeared in paternal and heroic roles until 1926.

Fuchs was primarily a character player, but he also played in various other role subjects. His performances were of haunting understanding, dramatic power, artistic maturity and technical skill. His notable roles included "Tell", "Faust", "Egmont", "Wallenstein", "Othello", "Dunois" and others.

Rudolf Fuchs was an honorary member of the Meininger Theater.
