Bernhard Baumeister
Bernhard Baumeister (actually Bernhard Baumüller ) (born September 28, 1827 in Posen , † October 25, 1917 in Baden near Vienna ) was a German-Austrian actor .
Live and act
Bernhard Baumeister first stepped onto the stage in Schwerin in 1843 and came to Hanover in 1848 , to Oldenburg in 1850 and to the Vienna Hofburgtheater in 1852 , where he received the decree as an imperial court actor in 1857 , was hired for life in 1892 and made 6,299 appearances in 494 roles.
While he used to play nature boys and bon vivants , he later mostly took on older humorous roles ( Falstaff , Götz , Petruchio etc.).
In April 1907 the death of Baumeister's daughter, Hermine, is reported.
At the beginning of 1915, during his engagement at the Burgtheater , Baumeister suffered a slight stroke in connection with influenza , which was followed by severe hearing loss , despite phases of apparent recovery ; He spent the last years of his life in his house in Baden near Vienna , which had been used as a residential domicile since 1904 , and has been buried in the St. Helena cemetery since October 29, 1917.
In 1920 the Baumeistergasse in Vienna- Ottakring (16th district) was named after him.
He was the brother of Wilhelm Baumeister and Marie Baumeister , his niece was Antonie Baumeister and his sister-in-law Therese Ringelhardt .
