Wilhelm Baumeister , actually Wilhelm Baumüller (born November 17, 1815 in Berlin , † April 6, 1875 in Görlitz ) was a Prussian officer and actor .

Life

Baumeister took his leave as a Prussian officer in order to devote himself to the theater in Schwerin , initially under the name Baumüller . In his youth he was one of the first bon vivants and conversation lovers in Germany.

He made his first stage attempt with the Faller Society, with whom he set out on hiking trips all over Germany until he finally found engagement in the court theater in Oldenburg. Then he worked in Nuremberg.

He later represented hero lovers at the Hamburg and Breslau city ​​theaters and became a director in Kassel in 1856 .

In 1857 he took a position in Berlin in the field of serious and humorous fathers and was counted among the first to do so when he left the stage forever in 1870.

Wilhelm Baumeister died on April 6, 1875 in Görlitz.

He was married to Therese Ringelhardt , his father-in-law was Friedrich Sebald Ringelhardt and his daughter the actress Antonie Baumeister . His siblings were Bernhard Baumeister and Marie Baumeister .
