Rudolf Haas was the author of novels and short stories. Both his native Egerland and his second home, Carinthia, form the background of many of his works. His student novels about the character of "Matthias Triebl" were particularly successful . Haas approached National Socialism since the 1920s ; his novel "Mother Berta", published in 1940 by the party's Eher Verlag , is an example of the blood-and-soil literature promoted by the Nazi rulers and was distributed in large numbers.
