The Rudolf Ippisch is a passenger ship that is used for the Traunsee shipping .

history

The ship was built in 1928 as a coaster in the Netherlands . It was initially called Nob . In 1940 it was taken over by the German Wehrmacht in Kiel and renamed the Schwalbe . In 1945 the ship was on the Danube by the US forces seized and Suzi Q. mentioned. In the post-war period, the Suzi Q. served as a floating establishment in Linz. In 1953 it was purchased for regular services on the Traunsee and named after Rudolf Ippisch senior, who had operated ships on the Traunsee since 1909.

In 2005 the ship was decommissioned due to a gearbox failure; it was restored in 2009. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful and oldest motor ships in Austria.
