Rudolf Juen

Rudolf Juen (born December 15, 1896 in Schiltigheim , † November 19, 1982 in Bregenz ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP / ÖVP ) and ÖBB employee. From 1945 to 1949 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

Juen attended elementary school in Rastatt and in 1907 switched to elementary school in Bregenz-Rieden, which he completed by 1911. He worked two summers as a guardian boy in Swabia and worked as an errand boy and unskilled worker until March. He joined the railroad in 1915 and did military service in South Tyrol until 1918 during the First World War . He then returned to rail service in 1918 and worked for the Austrian Federal Railways until June 1, 1960, the day he retired.

Politics and functions

Juen became involved in the Catholic youth association "Traugold" from 1914 and was a member of the Catholic workers' association from 1919. From 1919 he was also a member of the Christian Railway Workers Union and from 1921 acted as a member and secretary of the Turnerbund. He was also active as a member of the “Reichsbund der Österreicher” and its local chairman. In the interwar period, Juen was a member of the Christian Social Party and represented it from 1929 to 1934 in the city council of Bregenz. From 1934 to 1938 he was a member of the local leadership of the Fatherland Front. In 1945 he was imprisoned by the Bregenz Gestapo for about a week.

After the Second World War, he joined the Austrian People's Party and the ÖAAB and on May 5, 1946 became a member of the provincial management of the ÖAAB Vorarlberg. From 1947 to 1961 he was a substitute member of the Bregenz city council and worked as a school supervisor and local school councilor for Bregenz. Furthermore, from 1946 to 1954 he was a member of the Chamber Council of Feldkirch and its board member and during this time also worked as a member of the education committee of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Labor . In addition, from 1949 to 1954 he was the deputy chairman of the transport staff section of the Vorarlberg Chamber of Labor.

As a member of the constituency of Bregenz, Juen was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament from December 11, 1945 to October 24, 1949, where he was a member of the social policy committee.

Private

Juen's father, Christian Juen, was a plasterer and came from St. Gallenkirch . His mother Eva, née Spahr, was born in Blotzheim near Strasbourg . In 1907 he moved to Bregenz with his parents. Juen married Leopoldine Lahner (1901–1953) in 1926, who was born in Stadlpaura in Upper Austria. He had nine children with her who were born between 1927 and 1940. After the death of his first wife, he married Bernhardine Mangler from Eintürmen on May 23, 1957 . In 1961 Juen moved to Wolfurt .
