Rudolf Liechtenhan the Younger (* July 24, 1911 in Basel ; † May 16, 2005 there ) was a Swiss dramaturge , publicist , author and critic in the art forms of dance , ballet and opera. He was considered an internationally recognized ballet specialist and he maintained contacts with numerous dance personalities.

Life

Liechtenhan was the son of the theologian Rudolf Liechtenhan and Johanna Barth (a cousin of Karl Barth ); he came from the Basel patrician families Burckhardt , Barth and Liechtenhan , all families of the so-called Daigs .

Liechtenhan worked as a dramaturge at various opera houses, for example in Stuttgart with John Cranko , in Hamburg with John Neumeier and in Leipzig with Uwe Scholz . He has also published numerous ballet publications and photographs.

Liechtenhan married in 1954. He and his wife Lisa had a daughter, the historian Francine-Dominique Liechtenhan .
