Rudolf Müller (politician, 1911)

Rudolf Müller (born October 20, 1911 , † after 1985) was a German politician ( SED ). He was acting chairman of the council of the Cottbus district as well as deputy minister for general mechanical engineering and deputy chairman of the state planning commission of the GDR.

Life

Müller grew up with eleven siblings in a social democratic working class family in Berlin, attended elementary school and learned the trade of toolmaker . He later qualified as a mechanical engineer . In 1929 he joined the KPD .

In 1949 he was director of the plant for communications development and production (NEF) Berlin-Oberschöneweide , a part of the later plant for television electronics . In the mid-1950s, Müller was the main director of the telecommunications technology plant in Berlin-Oberschöneweide. From 1954 to 1958 he was a member of the city council of Berlin. From 1956 to 1958 he worked as deputy minister for general mechanical engineering, from March 24, 1958 he was chairman of the economic council in the Cottbus district and deputy chairman of the district council. Müller was also a member of the office of the SED district leadership in Cottbus. In 1961 he became head of the Cottbus district planning commission. On April 4, 1962, he took over the executive chairmanship of the Cottbus district council from the dismissed Heinz Krüger (until June 1962). From July 1962 to March 1963, Müller served as the first deputy chairman of the State Planning Commission and member of the GDR's Council of Ministers . From March 1963 he was Deputy State Secretary for Research and Technology. During this time he was responsible for handling the Office for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Technology . In 1967 he became First Vice President of the German Office for Metrology and Goods Testing (DAMW) and in 1973 Vice President of the Office for Standardization, Metrology and Goods Testing (ASMW). At the same time he acted as chairman of the district party control commission of the SED in the Ministry of Science and Technology of the GDR.
