Peter Siegesmund

Peter Siegesmund (born August 17, 1940 in Eberswalde ) is a former German politician ( SED ). He was chairman of the council of the Cottbus district .

Life

Siegesmund, the son of a worker and a plasterer , learned the profession of concrete worker at VEB Baubetrieb Dresden from 1954 to 1956 . In 1954 he joined the Free German Youth (FDJ). In 1956/57 he worked in the Dresden malt factory, from 1957 to 1960 he was employed by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in Dresden. In 1960/61 he worked as a concrete worker in the Elsterwerda concrete plant .

In 1961 Siegesmund became assistant to the mayor in Hohenleipisch . In 1962 he joined the Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED). In 1962 he was secretary for propaganda at the FDJ district leadership in Bad Liebenwerda . 1962/63 he was a listener at the youth college "Wilhelm Pieck" at the central council of the FDJ. From 1963 to 1973 he was the first secretary of the FDJ district leadership in Cottbus-Stadt .

Between 1965 and 1967 he completed a distance learning course at the master school for construction in Blankenburg (Harz) , which he completed as a master for construction and assembly. From 1973 to 1976 Siegesmund studied at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science . In 1976 he became second secretary and then from 1977 to December 7, 1984 first secretary of the Senftenberg district leadership of the SED. From December 7, 1984 to December 3, 1988 he was first secretary of the Cottbus-Stadt district leadership of the SED (successor to Gerhard Schulz). Since the end of 1988 he has been preparing to take over the Cottbus presidency from Irma Uschkamp , who wanted to resign in 1989 at her own request. Siegesmund was from June 1989 to June 1990 Chairman of the Cottbus District Council. From February 15, 1981 he was a member of the SED district leadership in Cottbus and from December 12, 1984 a member of its secretariat. From 1986 to 1990 Siegesmund was also a member of the Cottbus district council .

In May 1990 Siegesmund left the Democratic Socialism Party (PDS), but was again a member of the party from September 1990 to August 1999.

From July to December 1990 he was head of the department at the Cottbus-Ost tax office, then from January 1991 to August 2000 as marketing manager in the areas of printing and construction in the private sector. He retired in September 2000.
