Heinz Krüger (politician, 1919)

Heinz Krüger (born November 12, 1919 in Leipzig ; † October 10, 2015 ) was a German politician ( SED ). He was chairman of the council of the Cottbus district .

Life

Krüger was born the son of a bricklayer and a worker. He came from a social democratic family. After attending elementary and vocational school , he worked as a textile worker from 1934 to 1938. From 1938 to 1945 he was drafted into the Reich Labor Service and the Wehrmacht . At the end of the war he held the rank of boatswain . In 1945 he was interned in Britain for four weeks.

From 1945 to 1949 Krüger was employed as a worker as well as an administrator or trustee of small textile companies. In 1945 he joined the SPD and in 1946 became a member of the SED. From 1949 to 1951 he was department head in the council of the district , then 1951/52 mayor of Weißwasser and finally 1952/53 first chairman of the council of the district of Weißwasser . In 1953 he became the first secretary of the SED's Weißwasser district leadership. He completed his three-year studies at the party college "Karl Marx" (1954–1956) with a degree in social science . From 1956 to June 1959 he was the first secretary of the Jessen district leadership of the SED. From July 1959 to February 1962 Krüger was chairman of the council of the Cottbus district . He was officially dismissed because of "misconduct" which "had a party damaging effect and made him insecure in his work". Then Krüger was an employee in the State Planning Commission of the GDR.
