Rudolf Pfleiderer

Rudolf Pfleiderer (also: Rolf Pfleiderer; born February 2, 1912 in Wuppertal ; † 1997 ) was a German lawyer. He was in the Third Reich prosecutor at the German special courts in Prague and Brno in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia , in the Federal Republic of Germany chief prosecutor at the Higher Regional Court of Celle . He was involved in at least six death sentences.

Life path

Announcement of 21 death sentences from the Brno Special Court, carried out on June 30, 1943

Pfleiderer joined the NSDAP on May 1, 1933, and the general SS in October 1933 . In 1939 he completed his law studies in Berlin with the grade "Good" in the second state examination. He then came to the German public prosecutor's office in Brno in what was then the Reich Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia as an assessor . In 1941 he became a public prosecutor at the Regional Court of Brno. Until 1942 he was also responsible for capital crimes and for prosecuting so-called habitual criminals at the German special court in Brno . At the end of 1942 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht and fought as a lieutenant and company commander in Sardinia . In April 1945 he was taken prisoner.

After his release from captivity, he applied for a position in the Lower Saxony judicial service. His denazification process ended with his classification in category IV (“fellow travelers”). The British military authorities responsible for Lower Saxony rejected Pfleiderer's reinstatement in the judicial service in 1946, initially referring to his work at the special court in Brno and his former membership in the NSDAP . Pfleiderer then worked temporarily as an unskilled worker and field guard on an agricultural state estate near Hanover . Pfleiderer applied for a review of its first denazification notice and in August 1948 was classified in Category V (“Exonerated”). In March 1949 he became a public prosecutor at the district court in Verden . In 1958 he became the first public prosecutor at the Higher Regional Court (OLG) Celle , and in 1965 he was promoted to senior public prosecutor .

The "Association of Antifascist Resistance Fighters of Czechoslovakia" filed a criminal complaint with the Lower Saxony Ministry of Justice in 1960, including against Pfleiderer, who was included in the list of war criminals in Czechoslovakia. His involvement in at least six death sentences could be proven. Investigations against Pfleiderer were opened in Germany, but these were discontinued in the same year and had no legal consequences.

According to the memories of the judge Ulrich Vultejus , who knew Pfleiderer from his time at the Verden Regional Court, Pfleiderer, who was involved in death sentences as a public prosecutor at the special courts in Prague and Brno and who was also present at executions in Vienna during the Second World War, is said to have passed Mocked colleagues who no longer enjoyed lunch after participating in such executions.

Pfleiderer was named in the Brown Book published in 1968 on war and Nazi criminals in the Federal Republic . Pfleiderer was elected to the board of the German Association of Judges as the representative of Lower Saxony public prosecutors .

Rolf Pfleiderer died in 1997.
