Rudolf Schäfer (born March 2, 1952 in Herrenhof / Thuringia) is a German photographer and university lecturer .

Life

Schäfer, born in Herrenhof in 1952, worked as a freelance photographer in Berlin from 1973. In 1983 he received an external diploma from the University of Graphics and Book Art in Leipzig . During this time he made a name for himself in particular with nude photographs , which he published from 1973 to 1984 in the popular magazine Das Magazin . From 1986 to 1989 Schäfer was a master student at the Academy of Arts of the GDR with Ludwig Engelhardt and Klaus Wittkugel .

During the fall of the Berlin Wall, he was campaign leader for Alliance 90 for the first and last free elections in the GDR. In 1997 he was appointed professor for communication design and photography at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle .
