Rudolf Staehelin

Rudolf Staehelin (also Stähelin; born August 28, 1875 in Basel ; † March 26, 1943 there ) was a Swiss internist .

Life

Rudolf Staehelin was the son of the theologian Rudolf Stähelin-Stockmeyer ; his grandfather was the Basel Antistes Immanuel Stockmeyer .

He studied medicine at the universities of Basel , Tübingen and Munich ; In 1901 he received his doctorate in Basel . From 1902 he was a lecturer at the University of Basel, from 1906 at the University of Göttingen and from 1907 at the University of Berlin (where he also worked once at the Royal Charité Hospital ). In 1912 he married a daughter of the Berlin publisher Ulrich Kracht , Johanna, and in 1924 her sister Malta. From 1911 to 1943 he was a full professor of internal medicine and director of the Basel medical clinic. He researched tuberculosis , respiratory, circulatory, metabolic and infectious diseases . In 1932 he was elected a member of the Leopoldina .

Together with Leo Mohr, he was the first editor of the manual of internal medicine published by Springer from 1911 .
